Lightning Rod Protection in the State of Louisiana
Hurricanes are not the only weather issue in Louisiana that you need to worry about. In the past 50 years, 138 people have been killed by lightning alone in Louisiana. In the past 3 years, two people have been killed, and 11 injured. According to NOAA, there is an average of 942,128 cloud-to-ground lightning strikes in Louisiana annually. It has the 7th most lightning fatalities in the US!
Historically, lightning is not common during hurricanes, but as sensors become more technically advanced, they are finding that lightning is more common during hurricanes than previously thought. You may want to consider lightning rods for the peace of mind knowing that your structure is protected from lightning.
