Basin Butte Lookout
Basin Butte Lookout is located on the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The fire lookout overlooks the Salmon River Mountains and was built in 1934. In addition, the building is registered with the National Historic Lookout Register. KLP Inc installed the lightning protection on this lookout in 2010.
Blue Mountain Lookout
Blue Mountain – Fire Lookout Tower was used to help film, the well-known movie, Red Skies of Montana. The lookout is located near Missoula, MT on the Lolo National Forest. It is the only remaining active lookout tower within the Missoula Ranger District and is also listed on the National Historic Lookout Register. KLP Inc installed the lightning protection on this historic lookout in 2014.
Ferry Basin Lookout
Ferry Basin - Fire Lookout Tower is located on the Flathead Indian Reservation. It is maintained, staffed, and used by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. The site has been used as a lookout since the 1930’s and the current cab was placed on sight in sometime in the 70’s. Lightning protection was installed by KLP Inc in 2004.
Granite Mountain Lookout
Granite Mountain - Fire Lookout was built in 1934 and is located on the Salmon - Challis National Forest. Sitting at just over 6000 ft of elevation, this historic lookout is also listed on the National Historic Lookout Register. KLP Inc repaired the lightning protection system in 2004.
Meadow Peak Lookout
Meadow Peak - Fire Lookout was built in 1957 and began official use by the U.S. Forest Service in 1958. The tower is located on top of Meadow Peak within the Kootenai National Forest of Montana; the lookout rest at over 6700 ft in elevation. KLP Inc installed an up to date Lightning Protection system in 2010. In addition, this tower is also listed on the National Historic Lookout Register.
Mineral Peak Lookout
Mineral Peak Lookout is located north of Missoula, Montana, within the Lolo National Forest system, and sits near the border of the Rattle Snake Wilderness area. Built in 1957, this fire lookout tower stands at over 50’ tall and is the third structure to sit atop Mineral Peak at 7,451 feet. Mineral Peak Lookout is a listed tower with the National Historic Lookout Register. KLP Inc installed the lightning protection system in 2006.
Monument Peak Lookout
Built in 1936, Monument Peak Lookout is located within the Helena - Lewis & Clark National Forest system. It sits atop Monument Peak at 7,395 feet with fantastic views of the Little Belt Mountains, near Great Falls, MT. This historic fire lookout tower is listed with the National Historic Lookout Register. KLP Inc installed the lightning protection system in 2006.
Pinyon Peak Lookout
Pinyon Peak Lookout was built in 1930. Located in the Salmon River Mountains of Idaho, within the Salmon - Challis National Forest, the fire lookout sits on Pinyon Peak with at an elevation of 9,947 ft above sea level. The Pinyon Peak Loop Road is one of the highest roads in Idaho. KLP Inc completed the lightning protection system in 2006. In addition, it is registered with the National Historic Lookout Register.
Porphyry Peak Lookout
Porphyry Peak located in Central Montana within the Lewis & Clark National Forest stands at over 8,000 ft of elevation. The lookout site has been noted to be an active lookout site since the 1930’s. However, Porphyry Peak Lookouts cab and tower was built in 1960. It is also the last staffed lookout to stand as a fire lookout over the Little Belt Mountains. The lightning protection system was installed by KLP Inc in 2005.
Rice Peak Lookout
Rice Peak Lookout has been an active fire lookout site since the early 1900’s. However, the current lookout building was built in 1940. Resting on top of Rice Peak, in the Boise National Forest of Idaho, the lookout rest at nearly 8700’ ft of elevation. This historic building is listed with the National Historic Lookout Register. KLP Inc installed the lightning protection system in 2004.
Stahl Peak Lookout
Stahl Peak Lookout is located on the Kootenai National Forest near Eureka, Montana. It stands atop Stahl Peak at 7435’ ft of elevation. The building and cupola were built in 1926. This is a rare style of fire lookout tower that is not currently listed with the National Historic Lookout Register. The lightning protection system was installed by KLP Inc in 2010.
Scurvy Mountain Lookout
Scurvy Mountain Lookout is located on the Clearwater National Forest of Idaho. The current lookout was built in 1952. However, the building site, standing at 6,636 ft of elevation, has been used as a fire lookout since the early 1900’s. This lookout is registered with the National Historic Lookout Register. The lightning protection system was installed by KLP Inc in 2010.
Trinity Peak Lookout
Trinity Peak lookout sits on top of Trinity Peak within the Boise National Forest of Idaho at more than 9400’ ft of elevation. The views are simply incredible from this location. The site has been used since the early 1920’s and the current lookout was built in 1956. A lightning protection system was installed by KLP Inc in 2001, it is perhaps one of the most memorable fire lookout towers we have done.
Ute Mountain Lookout
Ute Mountain Lookout is the one and only above ground tower, of two remaining fire lookouts still standing, in Utah. The tower is located on the Ashley National Forest, close to Flaming Gorge Reservoir, and stands at over 8800’ ft of elevation. The lookout was built in 1937 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC); the building is listed with the National Historic Lookout Register. The lightning protection system was designed and installed by KLP Inc in 2006.
White Mountain Lookout
White Mountain Lookout is located within the Lolo National Forest, near the historic Nine Mile Ranger Station, west of Missoula, MT. The current tower was built in the early 1950’s and listed with the National Historic Lookout Register. However, the first cab on site was built in 1934. The lightning protection system was designed and installed by KLP Inc in 2005.
