Porphyry Peak located in Central Montana within the Lewis & Clark National Forest stands at over 8,000 ft of elevation. The lookout site has been noted to be an active lookout site since the 1930’s. However, Porphyry Peak Lookouts cab and tower was built in 1960. It is also the last staffed lookout to stand as a fire lookout over the Little Belt Mountains. The lightning protection system was installed by KLP Inc in 2005.
